About a month ago I posted on how my Nikon D40 had some issues with the flash. I returned it hassle free and was given a replacement.
Here we are one month later, and I find that they have put the D40x on sale. The difference between the two cameras is 4 megapixels, a better CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) sensor, and 3 frames per second as opposed to 2.5 frames with the D40.
So here I go back to the store, D40 in tow to exchange it yet again. Once again I was treated hassle free. The person behind the counter had to pull the camera to make sure that it was in working order. After he snapped a few pictures, he walked over to the camera dept and returned with the D40x kit.
Just like that.
With the difference in price, I ended up with a better camera, and a two year extended warranty for 1/2 of what it would of cost me with the D40. Needless to say I am a very happy camper.
The pictures are huge and have more detail. The D40 has maximum resolution of 3008x2000, while the D40x has a maximum of resolution of 3872x2592. It may not seem like much, but it makes a difference when you crop your pictures.
Oh, did I mention that I also upgraded my lenses? I have now added this lens to my collection. I actually only have two lenses , this being the other. In due time I will add and external flash, a tripod, monopod, and eventually one of the really big bad boys lenses that is priced roughly the same as our first Benz. (That last item is a long, long, long, long term goal).
It's good to have goals.
